Subject:Please Help ID this silver bowl-China,Japan ?

Just picked this bowl up today,it's 9" across,3" high,no lid.
It seems to be double-walled.The outer decorative wall's pierced,the piercing penetrates to the back of the inner wall.The inner wall looks spun & pounded.
Not certain of metal content-can't find any markings.Any guess as to country of origin & usage ?
