Subject:bronze ming marks help please
Posted By: Jess Sturtevant Sun, Jul 01, 2012 IP: 71.101.226.28

I wondered if anyone could help me identify the marks, I believe the mark is Ming, but I am unsure of the date of the piece. Any help would be great.

Xuande mark, common on bronze censers & almost certainly not of the period but how old, I`m not sure.

yes, it's the usual apochryphal Xuande mark, probably a Qing censer

Its is an apocryphal mark of Xuande.

Censors always seem to have this mark regardless of when they were made.

a lot of Chinese bronze made during the late Ming I believe

My guess would be around 1850... Would remind this is a guess based on the materials and the motif... Lotus shape and nephrite jade handle... Anyone got any better idea!!??!!
Lovely piece... Better than most censers you see
