Subject:jade plaque
Posted By: elsewyse Sat, May 18, 2019 IP: 2605:a000:1304:4232: I was hoping to get some info about this jade plaque I purchased at an antique store. I don't have much info except the seller said he purchased it from an older gentleman whose deceased brother ran an antique store in NYC. My uneducated guess is Qing dynasty, since I found a piece auctioned at Sotheby's with almost identical dragon(?) carvings at the top: https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2016/the-muwen-tang-collection-of-chinese-jades-hk0708/lot.128.html |

Posted By: elsewyse Wed, May 22, 2019 The reason I'm pressing is because I've had 3 offers for it for $800, $1200 and $4k. The latter two offers were from the same person (a reputable dealer) and it just seems odd to me that there was such a huge jump over the course of a few days (they said they had a client interested). I'd like to know more before I agree to sell. |
