Thank you both for your opinions.
Here are some more photos

So far, it has been suggested as being:
(1) Ming
(2) Qing
(3) 20th century
(4) 2nd half 20th century
The form is definitely unusual, I have only seen three other double bis, one of which was in a table screen and the other a belt buckle.
@Mark, may I ask what led you this conclusion? From my untrained eye, it certainly looks ‘hand-carved'. The edges of the bis are quite rough and hardly ‘circular’.
@Ernest, I am located in a big city in the UK. It is certainly possible for me to have it seen by a specialist, though not at the moment with the lockdown here. Would you happen to have any suggestions for cleaning it? So far, I have been relying on warm water, hand soap and a toothbrush, but the remaining encrustation is very stubborn and doesn’t seem to want to come off (even after a full day of scrubbing!)
More opinions would be useful due to the lack of consensus on this carving.
