Subject:Identifying Jade Pendant With Dragons
Posted By: Ron B. Tue, Mar 30, 2021 IP: 141.126.239.18 I originally posted this and I must have left out the images. I recently acquired this interesting Jade Pendant with Dragons, which I am having a difficult time identifying. It measures roughly 2-1/4ā wide at the bottom and 1-5/8ā at the top, as it is tapered. Its length is 2-1/4ā as well. At the top there are two small holes for string, twine, etc. It is a fairly heavy feeling piece, as Jade is commonly. The back is rough with bumps as you can see in the photos. Iām looking for any input and thank you for taking the time to read my post. |

Posted By: GerryG Wed, Mar 31, 2021 Hi Ron, whilst this object could be treated as a pendant, its original use was as a chape which is the finial positioned as the bottom of a sword scabbard. Someone more knowledgeable than myself would have to comment on the actual carving to date and qualify the piece as genuine. If it can be determined to be archaic then it will have some value. |

Posted By: Cynthia Bryant Wed, Apr 07, 2021 Thank you. I thought the photos were good as well, but some people live to be critics and offer little to no help to the actual question. I have actually sold the piece, so unfortunately I can't send photos of the end with the holes. I do thank you for your kind words and interest in helping me solve my mystery. |
