Subject:Yokai Folklore Carving For More Info
Posted By: Dave H Thu, Nov 17, 2022 IP: 185.153.179.237

Forked cat folklore says one particularly monstrous breed of bakeneko is the two-tailed variety known as nekomata. However, only the oldest, largest cats with the longest tails—and thus the most intelligence—become this powerful variety. When a nekomata transforms into a yōkai, its tail splits down the center into two identical tails.

This carving of a Yokai is made of stone ( I am not certain of which stone it is ). It does have some yellow/gold spots as if it may have been gilded at some time. I am hoping someone may know the type of stone and possibly a time frame and location of where it was done.

All thoughts and opinions welcome... Thanks to all ...
