Detail: The launch of The Mekong Art and Culture Project scheduled for August 2006 was announced today. The two-year art collaboration with its six activities spans four countries and eight art institutes across the Mekong region including;
- Chiang Mai University (Thailand)
- College of Arts, Hue University (Vietnam)
- Hanoi University of Fine Arts (Vietnam)
- Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts (Vietnam)
- Mahasarakham University (Thailand)
- National Faculty of Fine Arts (Laos P.D.R.)
- Royal University of Fine Arts (Cambodia)
- Silpakorn University (Thailand)
The aim is to expand and encourage the contemporary art and culture movement, as well as valuable learning community based experiences within the Mekong region.
Art production and art education will be conducted through various forms of creative activities, such as workshops, art camps, research grants, and a contemporary art exhibition.
The Mekong Art and Culture Project has a comprehensive commercial sponsorship & partnership program on offer that enables international and domestic companies in the region to integrate with this challenging and creative initiative, and already boasts The Rockefeller Foundation, Southeast Asia Regional Office as its principal sponsor, and leading independent marketing consultants Paul Poole (South East Asia) Co.,Ltd, founding members of the culturepreneur® network, as its first official supplier.
