An inscription identifies this Lama. 'Gyaltsap Rinpoche Trakpa Tondrup (Dondrup) to (him) be glory.' Trakpa Tondrup (1550-1617) was recognized by Mikyo Dorje and was from the Gyaltsap line of Karma Kagyu Lamas. The Lama in the upper right is the great Indian teacher ‘Palden Atisha’ and the lion-headed deity mounted on a horse below the central figure is a protective deity called ‘Shingkang Gyongwa’ in the inscription. The Tibetan term ‘Sangbae Dakpo’ referring to the Bodhisattva in the upper left means ‘Lord of the Secrets’ and refers to ‘Chakna Dorje’, Vajrapani, and the compiler of the tantric teachings.
