Subject:Help identifying antique Pottery Urn
Posted By: Marcus L Fri, Apr 07, 2017 IP: 108.44.43.44 Looking for help in identifying the mark/age of a large vase that was converted to a lamp. My guess is that it is the Chenghua mark BUT I understand this is often "fantasy". It is indeed old and was later drilled and converted to a lamp...decades ago. I just dont know how old. The pottery is glazed and appears almost a speckled tan. It has a deep cobalt blue design (over bright white in places). Any assistance would be appreciated. |
Subject:Additional question....
Posted By: Marcus L Mon, Apr 10, 2017 An additional question....can anyone tell me what this scene depicts. The Horses appear to be flying as 2 warriors are chasing away another warrior and a soldier holding a giant mask/shield. Is it historical or folklore? (I included a photo of it removed from lamp and a better view of the bottom for determining age) |
