Subject:Embroidery - 18th? 19th? Century
Posted By: jimmy Sun, Mar 23, 2014 IP: 173.218.40.70

I have been told that this embroidery/wall hanging is from the turn of the 18/19 century. No one seems to know how rare or common it may be. I've searched many times on the internet, and the closest I came to a match was a very small (10" x 15") piece of fabric which was similar to mine, and it was sold thirty years ago (no price was given). The one I have is 41" x 41", and is very impressive to me. I've had it for forty years. I think that the images are the "flaming pearl". Please help with any information you might have. I'm not, necessarily, interested in it's value, but I would like to know if it might be an important piece of embroidery. Thanks, so much, for your time.
Jimmy

Nice piece of 19th century embroidery--, certainly worth reasonable money (likely 800-1500) If you ever sell it make sure it goes in an oriental auction and not a general sale

Thank you all, very much for your input. It is very appreciated. I found another very small embroidery similar to mine, and it was noted as being from about 1800.
Regards,
Jimmy

Your embroidery is a fragment pieced together from a robe. From the design and colors (dyes) it appears to be very late 19th or early 20th century.

Looks like a Chinese rank badge, although I haven't seen one like it. I like textiles and quite like it.
