Subject:identification of stone fu dog

hi
i have this 30 cm stone or marble fu dog that looks like it was a part of a temple (this is what i was told) the quality looks very good but i do not know the origin , if it is chinese or even japanese .
so i wanted to know if some one can tell me anything about it .
