Subject:Help/Confirmation Identifying/Valuing These Paintings
Posted By: Jonathan Sun, Aug 16, 2015 IP: 173.66.13.231

I think the first painting is by Zhang Xuan and titled 'Lady of Guo Spring Outing'. I think the second painting is by Utagawa Kunisada and titled 'Gappitsu Gengi Teichu No Yuk'. Can someone confirm this? Also, can someone translate the Chinese writing and stamped markings? Lastly, can someone provide a ballpark value for these paintings? Thanks in advance, Jonathan

You correctly identified the Japanese woodblock print by Kunisada. Here is a copy at the Boston MFA:

As you can see, yours is woefully faded. This reduces its value markedly. As a collector, I wouldn't be interested. You might get $100 for it.

Cheers,
Stan
