Posted By: Bonnie Mon, Sep 14, 2015 I agree in the similarity to the referenced mark 1378. Although the mark pictured seems to be a slopy copy. I think it possible my vase is Japanese Satsuma and not Chinese Kangxi. The delicate detail of painted enamel panels speaks Japanese to me. I'll search the possibility. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Sep 15, 2015 The mark isn't Kangxi but an apocryphal Ming mark of the Chenghua reign. The vase is Chinese with an intentional crackle glaze. Probably never been anywhere near Japan unless somebody carried or exported it there during the Guangxu Reign (1875-1908) or later.
