hello to any assistance in identifying, advice as to value or venue. this a stoneware vase. hand painted. applied pomegranate handles. 7.5 inch tall. flared petal lip.

Rotate your mark 180 degrees and compare with the Gotheborg reference mark 1378. Regards, Jim

I agree in the similarity to the referenced mark 1378. Although the mark pictured seems to be a slopy copy. I think it possible my vase is Japanese Satsuma and not Chinese Kangxi. The delicate detail of painted enamel panels speaks Japanese to me. I'll search the possibility.

The mark isn't Kangxi but an apocryphal Ming mark of the Chenghua reign. The vase is Chinese with an intentional crackle glaze. Probably never been anywhere near Japan unless somebody carried or exported it there during the Guangxu Reign (1875-1908) or later. Here's a link to another thread with similarly marked Chinese vase of the same era.
