Staples were high on the list of porcelain repair techniques well into the early 20th century, when stronger and less damaging glues were developed. In my estimation, the anomaly in your bowl with famille rose decoration of water birds in a lotus marsh would seem to be the blue base mark instead of an iron-red one, which makes me suspicious that the bowl may be later than the Tongzhi period (1862-1874). Period underglaze blue marks tended to be in standard characters, I believe, and all Tongzhi marks were copied in later periods, including the Republic era. Here's one on a small tazza that I take to be republic, due to the style of border and almost flawless white glaze.
Best regards,
