Subject:Is this a cup or a jar? Chinese or Japanese?
Posted By: Olive Mon, Feb 08, 2016 IP: 199.59.106.195 I have a questions about this piece and hope someone can help me. Is this a jar to hold things or it a tea cup? The writing is very strange looking perhaps cursive? Thank you for your help. |

Posted By: pipane Sat, Feb 13, 2016 Material looks like zisha tea cup, it is type of clay from Yixing (宜兴) in Zhejiang province in China, the most famous production center for tea pot in China. Cursive script on the cup body is not regular cursive script (thus difficult to read). The seal mark near foot ring reads (yunxian 云仙). May be a particular workshop in the area. |
