Subject:Japanese lacquer/ translation help
Posted By: Jim H Sat, May 21, 2016 IP: 69.140.239.222

This is my second try, with a link to better photos, rightside up.
The Edo era outer box has wear, so I have shown the inscription and signature separately with contrast enhanced at higher resolution. My Japanese sister-in-law told me the third kanji (in the inscription) says suzuribako (no surprise) but couldn't make out the rest.

I have tried to find a professional translator who has experience translating from art objects. I found one, but he was too busy, and said he didn't know anyone else to recommend. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Otherwise, I am forced to rely on the kindness of strangers
