Subject:Help identifying artist
Posted By: Chuck Mon, Jul 18, 2016 IP: 27.34.65.0

I have been researching this for what amounts to weeks now with no luck. I've tried everything from OCR, Google translate, online character readers, Google images, etc. to no avail. My Grandfather recently passed and this was a painting my Grandmother adored. It was purchased in Hawaii in the 1960's but other than that, I have nothing more to go by. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Based on the cursive writing, the two character can be
翠溪 cui xi (emerald stream) probably the name of the artist, may not be the real name though. There is no family name.

The chop marks were so blurry which cannot give any clues, but probably that of cui xi.

I am not sure you would be able to identify this artist because this painting might be one of the many commercial ones that were made in China or Hong Kong that were exported oversea. As long as it means a lot to you since it was left by your grandpa, that would be what is most important. No pun intended. Hope this helps.
