Subject:Quan Yin statue
Posted By: david p Sun, Oct 09, 2016 IP: 99.243.2.251

Hello, Can someone please tell me if this Quan Yin statue is jade or agate; it has some oxidation spots in a few areas; has a good weight to it and is pretty hard and doesn't scratch. Any assistance with this query would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! David P.

More likely is glass with those flow patterns. Depending on its formula and processing, glass can be difficult to scratch.

Further to my initial comment, here's a link to a jadeite "beauty" (meiren) carving offered by a well-known eBay seller. The colors are more diffuse than in your Guanyin, and the darker areas help identify the stone as natural.
