Subject:Japanese 1919 pottery help
Posted By: Helmut Jungert Mon, Oct 24, 2016 IP: 99.196.8.167 Have a three footed bowl with lid dated 1919 also stamped Japan. Looks Egyptian Revival to me or Art Deco. Has slight lusterware glaze inside. Gold trimmed.

Posted By: yurike Fri, Oct 28, 2016 This looks to be a exported Satsuma blank that was decorated outside of Japan... signed and dated by the artist on June 27 1919. Many of these were decorated in the U.S. in a Art Deco style.

Posted By: snap Sat, Oct 29, 2016 In the US there were efforts in settlement houses to train the impoverished in crafts such as weaving. There were also womens' clubs specializing in painting porcelain. These sometimes resulted in formal companies, such as the Saturday Evening Girls. An internet search will yield more.
