Subject:Large Japanese Kutani? Teapot Face Snout - Signed Mark - Need Any Help to ID
Posted By: flexaplex Mon, Dec 05, 2016 IP: 146.198.252.13

Hi.

I'm pretty clueless on this one so would highly appreciate any help :)

I would love to know anything which could be helpful like the era, make, id the base markings or it's possible value. It does unfortunately have a big chip on the top rim but apart from that looks to be in good condition.

Thanks a lot for any help :)

Hi,
The mark is spelling on the right: Dai Nippon 大日本 (Great Japan) and on the left: Kutani Sei 旭山 製 (Made in Kutani).

According Gotheborg.com are handwritten Dai Nippon marks from the Meiji Period, in this case I guess circa 1900.

Regards,
Martin.
