Chop confirmation and meaning |
Posted By: Bob Posted Date: Jul 01, 2017 (12:16 AM) |
Message Thank you in advance for any information on this piece... I am trying to confirm that this is from the late Arch Bishop Nitten Ishida. As aquired, it had writen in pen Nitten Ishida on the back of the matte. I was able to find one image of Ishida's calligraphy works and the chop looks the same, but it was a small picture, so hope someone can confirm. Also, I really want to know what the calligraphy means.. I understand Ishida was a master calligrapher for 60 years and I am excited to know more.. It is stamped Japan on the back, he came to the us in 1931, so assume it is pretty old.. Thank you again |
