Identifying age/origin of numerous cloisonne objects... |
Posted By: Prichard Posted Date: Jan 13, 2007 (10:03 AM) |
Message I have recently inherited a large antique cloisonne collection which has about 200 pieces of Japanese and Chinese cloisonne. Most, if not all, are antique. The collection consists of a variety of vases, urns, desk sets, boxes, match holders, and snuff bottles. Most pieces do not have where they were made, or any markings other than the designs on the particular object. Some pieces are marked "CHINA", not Made in China. Other than the pieces marked CHINA, none others have any markings on the bottoms. I am having a difficult time trying to put values on the pieces for insurance purposes. Is there a reference book that gives extensive examples and values for antique cloisonne that anyone can recomend? How can I go about appraising the collection? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer. Post a Response |
