19th Century Carved Rhinocerous Horn |
Posted By: wingchuntaiji Posted Date: Feb 26, 2008 (02:10 AM) |
Message It is best not to mess around with the luster. Mineral oil may damage the organice texture of the horn. Try to use something like a compressed air can for photography to blow the dust or a hand-held mini vacum with a hairy tip for computer to suck up the dust. A slightly wet all-cotton towel may be okay to wipe clean the flat surfaces(squeeze the towel real dry). Make sure don't make the item wet because it may cause fractures in the future.
