Very fine bronze piece from India or Nepal |

Message Hello! I usually collect African art. By chance I saw this nice piece and bought it. Without much knowledge it looked fine and authenitic to me and caught my eye. Now I would like to know more about it: origin / style, authenticity, value, function etc. A galerist told me, it looks like a Nepalese oil lamp, circa 18th /19th century and recommended to post it in this forum. The cock and its head are detachable. There is a hollow inside of the cock, probably for the oil. Above the four lamps there are images of Ganesha. Above the foot there is among other thins a circle with skulls. The size is ca. 75 cm / 30 inches. Can you tell me more about it??? Thanks a lot in advance! Zachar Post a Response |
