Message Hi Martin, the painting is indeed Chinese, falsely inscribed as by Ming painter Qiu Ying. In the past it has been common to pass off anonymous works as the works of old masters by adding false signatures and seals. There are also just plain fakes. My guess is that this is a fairly recent work in the latter category, though it's possible it's a 20th century work also meant to deceive. The Tibetan piece looks very attractive, but I don't have the knowledge to comment Post a Response |
