Re: Help me with a signature on a print or painting. |

Message Martin, the signature on the picture reads 'Gyokusen' (Lit. Jade Spring), which appears to be a personal as well as geographic name in Japan. It appears that the subject matter is a Japanese maiden holding a badminton shuttlecock with a battledore or racquet at her side. Playing the game is an annual tradition for young girls in Japan, I believe. Perhaps Wikipedia and Google can help you find further details on the tradition and the artist. Best regards, Bill H.
