Message Fake Chinese Government certificates have been around for a long time. I can recall in the 1980's one of the Government stores in Liulichang (Beijing) removing one of the red wax seals (which mean O.K. for export, no authentication of age) and putting it on a 19th century bowl that was not approved for export. Latterly there have been a number of certificates issued by a Government run antiques store in the Forbidden City, on pieces that are obviously modern. I would advise you to view any certificate with suspicion, and if you have doubts, do not buy without getting a second opinion from someone who knows. Post a Response |
