Message The brown color on this piece is not dirt. I don't think it is a fired piece because I cannot scratch it with a needle. It leaves a black mark. The needle is unable to dig into the piece. Upon further reading I believe that the the surface material on the needle is coming off on the piece. Here are a couple of more pics. Thanks for your help
