Message Your photograph was made on a gold colored paper that was coated with light sensitive silver, the same as any black and white photograph. Several specialty papers were available for this type of image. A gold toned photograph would have a very cool tone to it. Gold chloride would be diluted and then the finished photograph would be put into the solution. The gold would bond to the silver making it even more impervious to fading. Gold toning was most often used on winter and water scenes as the resulting tone was a cool blue, with the whites unaffected. Post a Response |
