HI All--I just purchased a new book that I thought might by of help to many of us who are groping our way through the maze of Chinese characters and seals. It has supposedly been 15 years in the making (Since the first edition) and is 300+ pages of Chinese characters, Imperial reign marks, single character, two character, 3 ,4, 5, up to 8 and over, date marks, potters names, hall marks and more, all with ENGLISH translations. (Yah!) Thousands of them! As we all know almost all helpful books are in Chinese only and thus useless to most of us. This book is so helpful I fell it will allow many of us answer some of our own questions thus freeing up the experts to help us and others with more challenging problems. Of coarse we will still not be able to authenticate real from fake marks or determine age or origin and in many, cases wont be able to put many characters together correctly and must ask help from our experts. The book is The New & Revised Handbook of MARKS on CHINESE CERAMICS by Gerald Davidson available from Paragon Book Gallery Inc for $75.00.
Hope this helps many, it has me already. Regards James

P,S. I dont know who reads all our questions and comments at Asian Art Forum prior to posting, but thank you for your time and for providing a platform for us to use.
