You may know that not all white porcelain is 'blanc de Chine,' or Dehua porcelain.

I would be suspicious about nature of this novelty item at first glance due to added orange coloring on base. It is not rubbed off from stand. Dehua porcelain never fired orange, it was made using ingredients very free of iron impurities.

Such added orange color added to many new ceramics from China for impression to viewer that it is old.

Are a few good books Dehua porcelain, most known in English is by W. B. Honey (hard to find but maybe in large or university library).

Good luck,
Cal
