Message The mark reads down in two columns from the upper right side in Mandarin pinyin as Da Qing Yong Zheng Nian Zhi' (Made during the Yongzheng Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty). It is apocryphal, having gaps and other irregularities suggesting it was applied by a type of transfer or decal that wasn't in use until the early 20th century in China. Without seeing more of the teapot that bears the mark, it is impossible to say anything else very substantive. However, I would offer conjecture that this is a late 20th century or subsequent decorative product. Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
