Message Greetings, I have been looking for a free forum to ask about a tea pot which I just purchased. Someone told me that the mark is from the early 18c, however I understand that there are plenty of reproductions out there. There is a bit of dried dust/patina which I havent cleaned yet which amplifies browns in the crevices more than it should. The pot is made of fine white porcelain, there is a rattle in the lid, however I am not sure if this is a manufacturing variance(actually sounds a bit like a frog). Unfortunately the mark is difficult to see and photograph. If necessary I could try to take a better picture, however even in person it is pretty difficult to see. The other plate was bought along with the pot. I was told it was from the 1800s. I am most interested in peoples opinions of what the painting is of. Birds? Boats? I only paid 10 dollars at an estate auction for the pot, dish and two other chinese painted dishes, so I am not afraid to hear that they are fakes! :) Thank you very much! |
