Looking for Japanese artists

CAMERA JAPAN 2008

This coming september there will be an exhibition in Retort gallery in Amsterdam, Holland called OVERKILL. It is a part of the festival CAMERA JAPAN (www.camerajapan.nl) The exhibition is about citylife of the individual. A very broad subject. What is more important is the setup of the exhibition. All the work that will be shown will be made by Dutch visual artists Nico Kos and Martijn Kluit, but we are asking Japanese people for the ideas for the work. Nico Kos and me will only function as the executors of the ideas. It is about cooperation by communication and miscommunication.

We ask Japanese people that are interested in art for an email with at least one idea. Sketches can be included. The email can be in English or Japanese. When we don't understand what is written, we will have to find a new solution to make a work based on the email, which might be interesting.

At the exhibition the names of the people who cooperated and whos ideas are selected will be included in the works, and the people who cooperated will get photo's and a letter of cooperation so they can use this exhibition in Amsterdam for their own portfolio.

The deadline for sending in ideas is: 15th of July 2008
