Dear Marcella,

Impossible to say anything precise from the pictures you posted, could you send better pictures of one disk surface aspect please?

My general impression is not good, old BC jade Bi would show obvious evidence of great age, nice patina (luster) and marks of time. Peruse best museums catalogue or major auction houses to check how old BC jade Bi should look like:
http://www.npm.gov.tw/en/collection/selections_01.htm
http://www.christies.com for instance or http://www.sothebys.com/

From a professional point of view:
1) usually dealers know what they have in hand, so if the seller told you he is not sure how old it is it means he doesn't think it is old.

2)on every market, price is a very good indication of a good quality/value, I mean that even if low quality antique are sold at (too) high price sometime it is very unlikely that good ones would be sold at low price...

Also fakers have been making copies for centuries, if two centuries old good quality copies (from material and craftsmanship point of view) have some value, its value is generally far lower than the original, and lower than that period original artworks.

For instance: a Ming Dynasty copy of a Han Dynasty jade, might have some value, but far less than real Han Dynasty jade or original Ming Dynasty jade, still it is antique, if the material and the craftsmanship is good it has some value.

Therefore I would say that a few decades jade copy is generally worth the cost of the material it is made of.

Best Regards,

Pipane
