Your jardinier's 'not for food' statement indicates 1980s or later, high-lead glaze. These are mass-made factory items widely exported to sell in department stores or even 'Chinatown' type shops. Many had the 'not for food' warning only on stickers.
More lead was used in glaze to lower melting point to make production cheaper (use less fuel or electricity for kiln heat). Result is also soft and scratches easy, so if you wash do not use dishwasher, hand wash gently.
Good luck,
Cal
