Yes, Jade can go from lousy/unwanted to superb in quality.My experience has shown that you buy what you see, and that is as good as it gets. Rarely does one try to get a carving re-shaped, and then only if you know the carver, and you are willing to pay good money.
There is no standard price.. it is just what a buyer is willing to pay.
To understand Jade means handling Jade for very many years, and even then, you never stop learning.
Once the Jade devil bites you, you'll spend all your money buying Jade. You could do worse.
