The surge in Jade prices!

I have been collecting Jade for over 30 years. Collected mostly Jadeite because of the difficulty of authenticating "age" of nephrite.

Recently became aware of the astouding price increase of quality jade and began to research to try to determine the reason prices are rising to the level they currently enjoy. Approaching three quarters century in age I have learned lunch is not free and value needs justification.

The jade market is fueled by the Chinese, no need to expand on the fact that the Chinese have a special affinity for Jade, the middle class in China is more affluent, the huge underground economy in China needs a place to put the huge amount of cash not reported in the China economy, and the drug busines owners have purchased the jadeite mines near China and are smuggling drugs in the Jade material, cleaning money for various reasons. The finite supply of Jade material controlled by interests similar to the diamond industry leads me to believe that at least in my lifetime prices will continue to rise. Yields on investments are unbelievably low in this economy and if one is fortunate enough to be knowledgeable about the intricacies of Jade it is a good niche and a good time to take advantage of prices that approach twice the price of gold. As the Chinese say, Gold has a price but Jade is priceless!!!!!

I have chosen the auction market of either Christies of Sothebys to market Jade. The reason being that so much of the market is fabricated with dyed or impregnated Jade that the buyers in China want a safer place to purchase their Jade and in my opinion, the best prices and the safest place to do business and get paid for your Jade is with the top auction houses, albeit they are not the easist place to do business because they are so busy with the surge in demand they have a hard time servicing in a prompt manner.

I will try to show a few of the pieces I hope to sell and wish all of you Jade people the best of luck and if could give one piece of advise after making all the mistakes one could make over thirty years of collecting Jade, it would be to collect only the best material you can afford, only the best Jade pieces are demanding these crazy prices and the future looks good for Jade for many years, it is a very risky and rewarding endeavor but it is not EASY, study hard and good luck.
