correct identification to end debates (PLEASE)

I have inherited a large amount of Japanese (?) items and don't have a clue what half of them are! This has been on my table and everyone that comes into my house has a different suggestions as to what it might be!

I believe it's made out of jade. The openeing doesn't go all the way through. It's only about 9cm/3.5in long and not even an inch at the widest point. I can get exact measurements/more pictures...whatever is needed.
