'Vintage' ?!! Painting

Hi, I'm new here and have to admit to knowing very little about art excepting what I like.. and buying it!! The images attached are of my most recent acquisition an original oriental painting.. Chinese or Japanese? I don't know.. Cranes (one of the subjects of the picture) seem to be favoured by more than one Asian country and I believe represent long life or immortality but beyond that I struggle to successfully research oriental stamps and signatures.. there are soo many!! I would appreciate any feedback on this picture even if only to say that it's a typical tourist piece from HK!! It seems of some age, judging by fading of the mount, and there is a water stain to the base but it is an original painting in my opinion beautifully done and seems to have used mostly black and gold paint (some red to crane heads). Thanking you in advance for any assistance.
