Large piece of Pottery

I just want to say Thanks in advance to any that can help and I absolutely LOVE this message board! I have learned so much!

Please forgive the dust in the pictures but I have moved recently and my things were in storage a long time.

About a year and a half ago I went to an estate sale where I purchased a large piece of pottery. It has a mark near the "shoulder" of the piece.

The thing that truly has me puzzled is that it has had some type of paper affixed to the top of it at one point.

How it looks is exactly how it was when I purchased it. I did not attempt to remove any paper.

Also since I am still unpacking, and unable to find my measuring tape, I placed the piece near a door to give you somewhat of an idea of the size. it also quite heavy. I have included a close up of the marking.
