An inscribed and inlaid bronze Jain shrine
Detail: reverse

The delicately cast shrine inlaid with silver and copper, depicts a Jain Tirtthankera seated on a throne supported by lions and flanked by elephants who hold his princely parasol aloft. He is surrounded by eleven other Jinas. A lengthy inscription to the reverse. Fine original patina.

Provenance: Sotheby’s sale 66228 Lot 412, October 29th, 1991.
