Subject:Wucai enamelled plates - Need help to date ??
Posted By: MIkey Wed, May 15, 2019 IP: 2001:56a:76b3:1800:9 Thought I would give this forum a try since I have been unable to research these plates any further. I believe they are Chinese for the Japanese market done in Wucai enamels. There is a signature which I have not completely translated. The plates are about 4" and there is sand grit along the footrim and a few chips along the outer edge of the plates. Hope for your opinions on possible age. Thank you |

Posted By: MIkey Fri, May 17, 2019 FYI. I got a reply from an alternate source. Apparently these are Chinese done in the Ming style. |

Posted By: Bill H Sat, May 18, 2019 Here's a link to a Japanese language website, showing images of a dish with much the same mark in a similar palette and pattern, which the machine translation also indicates to be Ming period. I can't vouch for such translations, but perhaps I. Nagy or others can comment. |
