Posted By: Bill H Tue, Aug 22, 2017 According to Tony Allen, as a general rule, underglaze blue four-character Kangxi marks are fake and, along with fake Yongzheng and Qianlong marks, didn't come into use until the Guangxu reign (1875-1908). Posted By: Bokaba Tue, Aug 22, 2017 Thanks Bill. I suspected this plate was definitely not Kangxi period due to the incorrect decoration and incorrect mark. I think you are right about late Qing period due to the hue of the blue underglaze and the buff colored paste with kiln grit. I have a period Kangxi plate and there is no grit, a vibrant blue decoration, and an almost blue/green tinted glaze. |
