Hello, I'm trying to establish the age and identify the subject of two matching (mirror image) figurines that appear to be root carvings. A friend's grandfather is said to have acquired them in the 1920s.
They have what appear to be ivory teeth and eyes, and both are holding a scroll and have their opposite hand on a box or book.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
They're approximately 13.5" tall.
