Subject:Chinese bowl help!
Posted By: Natalie Wed, Feb 21, 2024 IP: 2a02:c7c:397e:5000:a

Would anyone be able to shed any light on this bowl please? Is it even antique?

Thank you in advance!

Your bowl appears to a piece of English Staffordshire ware. See the picture and embedded URL below for a platter in the pattern described as "John Rogers Zebra Pattern Blue Transferware 9 3/4 Inch Plate Circa 1815-1842".

Perhaps Plasticman can confirm.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you for your response! Coudld this not be a Chinese original which was later copied by John Rogers?

Not in my opinion, as the chips appear to show Staffordshire stoneware and not Chinese porcelain, which was often copied by Staffordshire potters.

Bed regards,
