Ikeda Tōkoku 池田桃谷 1839-1913
He is the second son of Shōzo, a farmer in Sojima Village, Hida Province. He was ordained at Anyōji Temple in Gunjō Hachiman. Later, he went to Kyōto and enrolled in Jōdō Shinshu. He studied Nanga and devoted himself to painting at Sōan in Sapporo. In his later years, he returned to his birthplace and left behind works such as mountains, water, flowers, birds, and people.

With regards,
I.Nagy
