Subject:identification and translation of signature
Posted By: Daniel Thu, Jan 24, 2013 IP: 90.210.220.26

beautiful small teapot, I think is famille rose style. Made of pottery clay with great convex crazed glazing. And some symbols on back (not a seal on bottom). I spent hours trying to identify this. I think higher symbol is something like stylized ken ryu nen sei. With bottom ones I lost myself. There's no underneath seal mark.
Help anyone!

I believe this is a mark of the Japanese Kinkozan (錦光山) studio in Kyoto. I'm unsure if it is a valid observation, but all of the Kinkozan wares I've seen with the signature written within the decoration like this seemed to be circa late Meiji-Taisho period export wares of good commercial quality.

Best regards,

Bill H.
