Posted By: Bill H Mon, Jul 20, 2015 There are only two characters in 'Morimitsu', the second one being 'mitsu', as pronounced here. Following are the other permutations of that character from the WWWJDIC: |

Posted By: David Wallis Sat, Jul 25, 2015 I'm asking these questions as I have a bronze vase with two kanji; the upper one translates as 'Masa' but the lower one is the same as the upper part of the second kanji on this vase: I'm a little confused, so please excuse my ignorance! Many thanks for your replies so far! |

Posted By: rat Wed, Jul 29, 2015 Ha, I shouldn't have asked! You are right, this looks exactly like the top of the 光 character at first glance, but it's a Japanese stylization of another character, perhaps 上 or somehow relating to 工 or 也 (though your character is not 也). But I know little of Japanese character variants; try reposting as "signature on Japanese bronze" to see if one of the Japan experts recognizes it. |
