Subject:Teapot
Posted By: Jonas Svensson Fri, Jun 17, 2016 IP: 155.4.53.53 Hello guys and women i have a teapot that i dont know anything about, how old and how much it can be worth. I ask you here cause i dont trust auction houses i sweden that they can give me a fair valuation. It has a marking under the lid awell but that marking is faded so you cant see what it says. |

Posted By: Karen Tue, Jun 28, 2016 You have a Yixing teapot. I am no expert but the texture of the surface suggests the clay was hand-mixed, more desirable than mechanically mixed clay. If the lid fits nice and tight--doesn't wiggle around, that's good too. Values of these range from nothing to very high--a better-informed forum member may be able to tell you the maker, age, and value of your teapot. |
